Meet Nisolo.

A few years ago, I happened upon the most amazing store. It was right around the time I was hearing more about sustainable fashion and how much of a negative-impact the fashion industry has had on the environment. I wanted a new pair of leather boots, but wanted: 1. for them to be unique, and 2. to be environmentally friendly.

Enter Nisolo.

For all you environmentally-friendly people, this company is your jam. Every Nisolo purchase provides a living wage to producers in the factory they own in Peru and combats climate change by protecting trees from deforestation in the Amazon Basin.

Their leather is a by-product of the meat industry. It’s minimally processed so natural markings and slight color variations make each product uniquely yours.

Another thing that makes Nisolo an amazing company is their recent Lowest Wage Challenge. They shared how it’s estimated that less than 2% of the 75 million people working to make the clothes we put on our bodies every day earn a living wage that covers their most basic needs. They’re now challenging major brands to take responsibility for the roles they play in contributing to this problem by sharing their minimum wages.

Me and my boy Kit. Wearing Nisolo Paloma Mules
How handsome is my Kit boy?

When Nisolo reached out to me about working with them, I was ecstatic! They have launched the most beautiful pieces this fall and I just keep adding more and more to my cart. I was lucky enough to be gifted the beautiful Paloma Mule in dark olive. I wore them to work a handful of times and out at events to really test them out before I wrote anything, and hello I am so pleased. They’re the perfect height (I’m 5’10” and am always paranoid about looking like a giant in heels) and are extremely comfortable. I get worried with mules because I don’t want my feet to be sliding around all day, but these truly couldn’t fit better + the olive color is perfect for fall and winter. I might need to go and buy every color in this shoe.

*UPDATE* Nisolo is amazing and has given my followers 25% off site wide! Use code JESSMARIE25 to snag that extra $$$ off. It even works on already discounted pieces!

A few of my favorite pieces:

The Lori tote. I bought this bag earlier this year (you know, wanted to look professional at work) and have since taken it across the country–from Seattle to New York City. I use it everyday and get so many compliments! I love how simple it is, yet different enough to make a statement.

The Isa Boot. This was my first purchase from Nisolo and what sold me on the quality and craftsmanship they put into every piece they make. Remember how I wanted a new pair of tan boots? These FAR exceeded my expectations. They are SO cute with every outfit and once warn, the leather is so smooth and comfortable. I wish I could find more recent photos of me wearing them (peep this photo from two years ago), but I wanted to share how beautiful the leather still looks after almost three years.

Lastly, the James Oxford. Again, I need to be better at photographing when I wear these babies. They’re the best oxfords ever. Same story with the leather–it’s smoother than ever and comfortable for all day wear. Throw on a pair of levi’s and a white tee and you’re set!

I also have a few earrings from them and LOVE them! They’re minimal and affordable, so take a look.

PS. I’ve had my eyes on the Amalia All Weather Boot…do I make the plunge? I think yes!
